Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young, Type 3 (MODY3)
Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young, Type 3 (MODY3)
OMIM number: 600496
Comments closing date: 16/05/2024
MODY is a form of familial noninsulin-dependent
diabetes mellitus and is characterized by an early
age of onset (childhood, adolescence, or young
adulthood under 25 years) and autosomal
dominant inheritance. A child who has a parent
with the mutated gene has a 50% chance of
inheriting that mutated gene. It has been reported
that patients would suffer from a progressive
decrease in insulin secretion over time. Patients
with MODY3 may have the full spectrum of
complications of diabetes.
